The Mocktails Everyone Asks For Seconds Of

We asked our favorite connoisseurs for the zero-proof drinks they actually keep making. No specs, just poured to taste. Here’s what we found.
Spicy Ginger Beer & Jalapeño Fizz (spicy)
Ginger beer already brings a natural kick, this one leans all the way into it. Muddle two thin jalapeño slices with a squeeze of fresh lime juice at the bottom of a glass (seed the jalapeño first if you want the flavor without the full punch). Fill with ice, top generously with a fiery ginger beer, Fever-Tree is a reliable choice if you want something genuinely ginger-forward rather than just sweet. Finish with a lime wheel and a jalapeño slice floating on top.
Basil & Lemon Peel Fizz (sweet)
Start with a quick basil simple syrup: combine sugar, water, and a handful of fresh basil leaves in a saucepan, simmer gently until the sugar dissolves, then let steep for ten minutes before straining and cooling. In a shaker filled with ice, combine the basil syrup with fresh lemon juice, shake well, then strain into a glass filled with ice. Top with a splash of club soda and finish with a lemon wheel and a basil sprig.
Jalapeño Watermelon Fresca (sweet and spicy)
In a shaker filled with ice, combine fresh watermelon juice with fresh lime juice, a teaspoon of agave, and jalapeño slices. Lightly press the jalapeños with the back of a spoon to release the heat without muddling them. Shake well and then strain into a salt-rimmed glass over ice. Top with a splash of plain sparkling water to lift it, and finish with a watermelon wedge and a lime wheel.
Elderflower & Mint Spritz (sweet)
Clap a small handful of fresh mint and lemon balm leaves between your palms, this releases their oils far more effectively than muddling alone. Then drop them into a glass over ice. Pour in about one tablespoon of elderflower cordial (more if you like it sweeter), top with unflavored sparkling water, and stir well to infuse everything together.
Four to choose from, some spicy, some sweet and some that do both. They’re refreshing, look great on any table, and are worth keeping in your rotation.
Cheers!
